Sometimes when you are going through the motions of the ordinary, God leads you to the extraordinary. Pastor Melvin shows us this in Samuel 9, where we read the story of how Saul, in searching for his father's donkeys, finds Samuel the prophet.

You may feel like you are in the spiritual doldrums today and that your enemies are always gathering, but in 1 Samuel 7, Pastor Melvin shows us that God is still thundering in the hospital room, when you lose your job, in your living room, and in all our distresses and we should mark these moments by raising a stone of remembrance, an Ebenezer, something that reminds us that we were there and so was God.

Pastor J.S. Melvin continues our study of 1 Samuel in Chapter 6. Even though the Philistines endeavored to worship God in all of the wrong ways, through grace, God looked on their hearts and accepted their clumsy worship.

What can we do when it feels like our God is not prevailing? In I Samuel 4 the Ark of the Covenant is carried into the house of Dagon, but God was on the move in enemy territory. He is always sovereign, and this gives us so much encouragement.

Samuel Chapter 4 teaches us to be careful to read God's word and not to go past the guard rails that God has put in place for us.
